Blind Cigar Review: La Aurora | 107 Maduro RobustoINITIAL IMPRESSIONS

Appearance: 94

“This is a handsome little cigar. The dark mottled finish on the wrapper is inviting. Virtually no seems or veins with a tight double cap. ” –  (Keikan Jim)

Aroma: 93

“Great aroma from the foot. Lots of dark chocolate and cocoa. Let’s put fire to it and see how it goes. ” – (maninblack77)

FIRST THIRD

Blind Cigar Review: La Aurora | 107 Maduro Robusto

Flavor: 91
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium

“This Cigar impressed me on its looks but didn’t follow through with its personality. The draw was very firm and didn’t allow the full potential of flavors to come through in my opinion. Rich tobacco was in the forefront with hints of licorice and pepper. I hope it opens up for the rest of the smoke. I feel this Cigar has potential.” –  (Keikan Jim)

“The cigar started out with a medium strength. Flavors were of a wood core that has a slightly sweet above and a leather in the back. The smoke was dry on my palate. Was simple on flavors but tasted good.” – (Mattehh)

SECOND THIRD

Flavor: 93
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium

Blind Cigar Review: La Aurora | 107 Maduro Robusto

“Second third is not much different than the first. Lots of dark chocolate and earthy flavors with black pepper on the retro. Had to drop the ash about an inch in so it didn’t fall into my lap. Not complex but the flavors are right in my wheelhouse. ” –(maninblack77)

“The second third of this stick starts off much the same as the first. A musty rich tobacco is the main flavor profile. The licorice flavors I detected in the first third have been muted and relegated to the finish. I’d really hoped it would open up but the draw remains much tighter than I prefer. Retrohale is fairly smooth with a slight black pepper zing. ” –  (Keikan Jim)

FINAL THIRD

Flavor: 89
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium

Blind Cigar Review: La Aurora | 107 Maduro Robusto

“Still only mildly average in complexity, the strength has picked up, and flavor has finally started becoming more than just average. Hints of roasted nuts, malt, and hay are present, with the mineral aspect still around but not as noticeable. It’s a shame it took this cigar until the final 1/3 to show it’s potential.” – (SineQuaNon)

“The strength ramped up this third. Still not much of a change. The wood core is still the center stage. Leather in the background. The sweetness is in the back this third and not really strong.” – (Mattehh)

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS

Draw: 93

“Loose draw initially, but improved as time went on.” – (SineQuaNon)

Burn: 93

“Burn line was near perfect. Nice even burn. Never got too hot.” – (maninblack77)

Construction: 93

“Appearance aside, this was a well constructed cigar. ” – (maninblack77)

Overall Strength: Medium-Strong
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 88

“This is another cigar that is good anytime, day or night. I was so relaxed, the cigar was done before I noticed it. ” – (Olin)

“Overall not bad, but unimpressive. The final 1/3 was truly enjoyable, but after having to work through the first 2/3 to get there, it just didn’t feel worth it. It seemed like a quality cigar, but just not one that fit within what I enjoy.” – (SineQuaNon)

“If the sour flavor had never appeared this would have scored much higher. Loved the earthy espresso notes that were present. I’d score this an 85. It’s not going to blow you away with complexity. I would try it again to see if the sourness was just a fluke. ” –(maninblack77)

“This cigar had a lot of potential and I was disappointed in the final result. I’m thinking I may have drawn a dud in an otherwise good cigar. I would love to try this one again to find out. ” –  (Keikan Jim)

“Overall I liked this cigar. The flavor was good and had some strength but wasn’t in your face with it. I really enjoy a cigar that has a natural sweetness to the tobacco. This had some nice sweetness to it.” – (Mattehh)
